Cockroaches can cause food poisoning. If you see a cockroach it is likely you have an infestation in your home.
Cockroaches will leave a musty smell and droppings which are small black spots can be found in cracks and crevices around food storage or warm areas.
There are two main species of cockroach found in Britain:
German cockroach – adults are around 1.5cm in length and are a light brown.
They are good climbers and are often found in warm and humid locations such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Oriental cockroach - adults are around 3cm in length and are dark brown or black.
They are poor climbers and are often found in cool wet areas such as rubbish heaps and drains.

Treatment of Cockroaches
Preparations before treatment
To assess the problem, what type of cockroach you have and decide on the right treatment we will need to work out where the cockroaches are and their food source. Please leave droppings, if it’s possible and safe, where you found them for us to have a look at.
What we will do during the treatment
Insect bait will be used to kill the cockroaches and we may also use traps. The treatment used is works over time and we will visit you xx times, two weeks apart. This will give the cockroaches a chance to eat the bait and die.
After treatment
We will give you a report of the work we have done with guidance and advice on what you need to do after the treatment. Revisits within 6 weeks of end of treatment are included only if you follow our recommendations. Visits after 6 weeks from treatment you will be charged for.
