A zebra crossing and cycle path was installed on Montrose Avenue to improve access between Montrose Playing Fields and Silkstream Park as part of Barnet Council’s £5million regeneration of the two parks.

Barnet Council is asking residents for their ideas and suggestions about improved ways to help people walk, cycle and wheel more easily around Colindale.

An online questionnaire, which launches today, alongside community drop-by and briefing sessions aim to understand what local people think about the proposals.

Since 2011, Colindale’s population has grown by 70%, making the area around the station the second-fastest growing ward in London after the Stratford Olympic Park in Newham.

The proposed schemes will improve public spaces as well as footways and cycleways in Colindale making it easier and safer for people to access different parts of the community.

Cllr Alan Schneiderman, Cabinet Member for Environment & Climate Change, said:

“I would encourage everyone who lives, works, or has a connection to Colindale to fill in the online questionnaires or attend a drop-by session to help us improve access across the community.

“We’re already investing in major infrastructure works in the area, with the upgrades to Colindale station and improvements to roads and pathways.

“With this next phase of work, we will make Colindale an even better place to walk cycle and wheel around as well.”

The questionnaire is available online at: https://www.engage.barnet.gov.uk/hub-page/connecting-colindale-engagement-hub, and there will be three drop-by sessions open to all on:
