A Barnet Council spokesperson said:
"We completely condemn this senseless act of violence on our streets. This awful attack is a devastating blow to the victim’s family, friends, and the community we all live in.
"The council is working with the police to help keep the community safe and to bring whoever is responsible for this despicable incident to justice.
"We would encourage any witnesses to volunteer information to help the police with their investigation."
