Barnet Council is encouraging residents planning celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, to make sure they apply for a street party license before the deadline of 8 April.

Celebratory events, including street parties and big lunches organised by residents and community groups, will be held across the borough and nationally to mark Her Majesty’s 70-year reign, across the special Bank Holiday weekend from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June.

To hold a street party in Barnet, residents will first need to gain the agreement of other households in their street. Following this, they must apply to the council by Friday, 8 April, for permission to close their road at: Street parties and special events | Barnet Council

The council, in partnership with the City of London Corporation, will also be hosting a Jubilee Fun Day in Golders Hill Park on Thursday, 2 June from 2pm to 10pm. The event, open for all to attend, will showcase our diverse communities through arts and crafts stalls, live music, entertainment, food and more.

Cllr Dan Thomas, Leader of the council, said:

“This really is a historic event as our Queen celebrates 70 years on the throne. As a council we are committed to trying to help communities celebrate in the best and safest way possible.

“The Platinum Jubilee provides a fantastic opportunity for the whole borough to come together and celebrate as one. Jubilee lunches and street parties to make this historic occasion provide a perfect opportunity to share food, have fun, and get to know your local community a little better.

“On top of this we are running our own Jubilee Fun Day in Golders Hill Park, to kick-off the bank holiday celebrations.”
