Work on the most significant growth and regeneration development in Barnet, the Brent Cross Cricklewood area, is moving forward with the public invited in July to look at the first concept designs for the new station and the first homes to be built
The £4.5 billion development of Brent Cross, which includes the proposed plans to transform Brent Cross Shopping Centre, will see an additional Thameslink station built, connecting the area to King’s Cross St Pancras in less than 15 minutes.
Alongside Brent Cross London - the re-invented shopping centre north of the North Circular - the development to the south also includes 6,700 new homes, a new town centre providing local shops and restaurants, and 3.4 million square feet of offices, as well as new and improved green spaces, all delivered by a joint venture partnership between Argent Related and Barnet Council.
Plans and images of the new rail station, as well as updated plans for the adjacent waste transfer station and rail freight facility, will be made available at public consultations throughout July, with members of the public encouraged to give feedback on the project.
In addition to this, Brent Cross South proposals for the first designs of three new buildings, including the replacement homes for Whitefield Estate residents, which will be managed by L+Q, and a temporary public space, will also be presented to the public at events in mid-July.

The public exhibitions are a great opportunity for residents to have a look at the initial designs and provide feedback.
“These milestones come off the back of the planning application for the redevelopment of Brent Cross London, which was submitted by Hammerson and Standard Life Investments earlier this year. After many years of planning, it is exciting to see substantial progress being made to transform this area.”

The project, which was granted Outline Planning Permission in 2010, will deliver:
• 6,700 new homes with a mix of sale, rental and affordable
• Up to 4 million square feet of new office space providing for over 25,000 jobs
• A new high street, with local shops and restaurants
• Improved transport connections, with an additional Thameslink station serving the area
• Better walking and cycle routes
• New bridges over the North Circular, Midland Main Line and Hendon Way
• New squares and parks with inspiring places for children to play
• New and improved community facilities
