Planning briefs

Last updated: 18 May, 2020

A planning brief is a document which summarises the planning authority's guidelines and requirements for the development of a particular site or collection of sites. A planning brief is generally produced for sites of a significant size or for particularly sensitive sites which require more detailed guidance. They can also perform a number of functions such as promoting a site for development, interpreting and supplementing development plan policies, or addressing a particular site constraint or opportunity.

The Council’s long-term vision is to ensure the Barnet’s parks are fit for the future through the development of key sites across the Borough. Masterplan proposals are being drawn up outlining the delivery of ambitious improvements, including sports hubs and supporting facilities. This investment aims to provide improved fitness and play, support nature conservation and biodiversity, and increase connections between parks and their surroundings.

Tackling Child Exploitation

Last updated: 28 March, 2024

Child exploitation is extremely difficult to disentangle children from, such is the fear, control and coercion that they are subjected to. Children tell us they have been beaten, kidnapped, shamed, threatened with violence to them and their loved ones. Children tell us that professionals cannot keep them safe, the abusers are hidden, powerful and influential, they have accompanied children to appointments with professionals, made them record the sessions so they do not tell and present as an omni-present risk from which children can see no escape.
