Mayor's Golden Kilometre challenge

The Mayor’s Golden Kilometre is an initiative set up to encourage Barnet schools to help their pupils take part in a 1km run, skip or jog every day around their school playground, field or local green space. The main aim of the initiative is to get young people moving more to improve their physical health and mental well-being. This programme began in 2016 and since then 12 primary schools have signed up with over 7,000 children taking part.

New Barnet (November 2010)

The Council adopted the New Barnet Town Centre Framework November 2010. The Framework sets out a vision for the future of the town centre and provides detailed guidance to direct future development in New Barnet in a well planned and coordinated manner. The Framework is a material consideration when considering any future planning applications for the area it covers. It will assist economic prosperity and protect and enhance the centre’s future vitality and viability to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of the local community.

Hendon Population

Population of the Parish of Hendon from the national census taken every ten years from 1801 to 1961 The old civil parish of Hendon included Mill Hill, Burnt Oak, Golders Green and Childs Hill. The statistics do not include Edgware which became part of Hendon in April 1931.
