Any venues that intend to conduct marriages or civil partnerships must apply to us for approval first. Part of the approval process is the publication of notices, these allow objections to be raised within 21 days of the publication of the notice.

Exhumations are generally rare and tend to be traumatic for the family involved. They can take a long time to arrange and are usually expensive. For these reasons, it is always best to consult with all the relatives before proceeding. Reasons Exhumations occur for a number of reasons, including:

Registering a building as a place of religious worship You can apply through Barnet Register Office to have any building in Barnet certified as a place of worship. The person who acts as minister or trustee must complete Form 76 available on the GOV.UK website. You will need to complete two copies of this form and return them to the Barnet Register Office together with a sketch of the floor plan identifying:

Registering a birth Every birth must be registered within 42 days of the child being born. If your baby was born in Barnet, either at home, at Edgware Birthing Centre or at Barnet General Hospital, you can register the birth at the Register Office at Hendon Town Hall.  It is best to register your baby in the borough where they were born. If you are the owner or trustee of the premises you can apply to us for a ‘grant of approval’ to hold civil marriages and civil partnerships.
