The Arts Depot joins Barnet’s movement to become a Dementia Friendly Community The Arts Depot in North Finchley has recently become another venue in Barnet accredited by the London Mayor Dementia Friendly Venues Charter as a Dementia Friendly Venue.

Following the tragic events in Pokhara, Nepal, the worshipful Mayor of Barnet Cllr Alison Moore has written to the Mayor of the city twinned with Barnet. Iconic artwork lights up Brent Cross

An impressive new artwork by London-based artist, Lakwena in collaboration with architects, IF_DO, has been revealed at Brent Cross Town today.

The Leader of Barnet Council, Cllr Barry Rawlings, has welcomed the Government’s announcement today (19 January) to award £29.5m of Levelling Up funding for the redevelopment of Colindale Tube station.

Barnet Council reopened the Pavilion Study Centre in Whetstone yesterday (Thursday 20 October), with an official ceremony attended by the Deputy Mayor and other local dignitaries. The Pavilion is the main educational institute for young people who are unable to attend mainstream schools in Barnet and is part of Barnet’s Family Friendly vision.

Barnet celebrates Diwali

A charity Diwali lunch was held at Copthall Leisure Centre on 13 October organised by a team of resident volunteers led by Kusum Israni from Edgware. Around 125 attendees enjoyed a lavish buffet lunch prepared by the volunteers themselves. Entertainment was provided by Bollywood dancers, and this was followed by an interactive dance workshop where everybody could have a go. One of the first to take to the floor was Cllr Gill Sargeant, who is the council’s older people’s champion.

New additional licensing scheme for Barnet This week (24-28 October) is Empty Homes Week at Barnet Council. The council is marking it by encouraging owners of the 1,891 empty homes in the borough to bring them back into use and is signposting the range of incentives available to help.
