Barnet renews Armed Forces Covenant

Ahead of Armistice Day (Thursday 11 November) and Remembrance Sunday (14 November) Barnet held an event this week to honour the renewing of the Armed Forces Covenant in Barnet.

Barnet Council has jointly won with its partner councils in North London a national award for improvements to the quality of care received by residents in its network of adult care homes.

This weekend will see people across the borough celebrating bonfire night. Fireworks can be a lot of fun, but take extra care, plan ahead and ALWAYS follow the Firework Code.

The Mayor of Barnet, Cllr Alison Cornelius, will lead a service at Hendon War Memorial for Armed Forces veterans and their families to mark Remembrance Sunday (14 November). The service will follow a parade at Hendon and will be the first since 2019 as COVID-19 social distancing restrictions prevented gatherings in November 2020.

Barnet Council has today (11 November) launched the Early Years Parenting Hub, an innovative early intervention service for parents and their children aged 0-5.  

Residents living in Barnet and Harrow are being invited to help shape a six-year programme of natural and sustainable projects to reduce the risk of flooding in the catchment of the Silk Stream.

Recommendations for the future delivery of some services currently outsourced by Barnet Council to Capita are expected to be confirmed by the council’s Financial Performance and Contracts Committee, which will meet on 23 November. These proposals will then be decided by the Policy and Resources (P&R) Committee on 9 December.

Barnet Council and faith partner Barnet Multi-Faith Forum (BMFF) have renewed the Barnet Covenant for Engagement between Faith Communities and Local Authorities. Barnet was the first London Borough to adopt the All Parliamentary Party Covenant for Engagement between Faith Communities and Local Authorities in 2015. This week, the covenant was signed again at a short ceremony in Hendon Town Hall.
