The Brazilian COVID-19 variant appears to be similar to the current dominant UK variant in terms of transmissibility and risk of severe illness. Research is being done into how well this variant responds to vaccines. There is currently no evidence that existing COVID-19 vaccines will not work against it.

Census 2021 is in full swing in Barnet. The letters, with unique access codes, have all gone out to Barnet households and responses are already coming in. Your answers to the census questions will help organisations understand the services needed and make decisions on planning and funding in your local area, including transport, education, healthcare and community services.

The popular visitor attraction is owned by the Canal and River Trust (CRT), which works with the two local authorities and the Environment Agency to manage and maintain respective areas. In February, the levels of the Welsh Harp were lowered by the Canals & Rivers Trust to complete routine maintenance, which revealed large quantities of litter within the reservoir.

At 12pm on Tuesday, there will be a national one-minute silence to remember all those who have lost their lives or been adversely affected. At 8pm, the country will stand on their doorsteps alongside their neighbours to commemorate those who have died from the virus, contemplate the challenges of the past 12 months and unite in hope for a brighter future. It is hoped people will help create a nationwide 'beacon of remembrance' by beaming phones, candles and torches into the night sky.
