Hadley Highstone is a Grade II-listed plinth-mounted stone obelisk, located at the junction of Kitts End Road and the A1000 in Chipping Barnet, and dates back to 1740. Barnet Council’s recent cleaning and conservation works helped return the structure to its original state ahead of the ceremony to mark the battle, fought on 14 April 1471. The surrounding area is protected as London’s only registered battlefield site.

Door-to-door testing in N3 has now been completed. The Mobile Testing Unit in the car park in Finchley Central Station has also closed. It is also important to stress that while violent crimes are still being committed, London remains one of the safest cities in the world. The Metropolitan Police have established a number of different initiatives to keep our borough safe, including the specialist Predatory Offender Units to arrest and charge those who carry out violence. While we continuously work on preventative measures to stop these crimes from happening, we hope that women and girls of all ages across Barnet find this booklet useful. 

Now it has been transformed into a large scale vaccination centre, run by the Royal Free London, to vaccinate thousands of people in the fight against COVID-19. Originally part of the Olympic Stadium, the track was transported to StoneX after the London 2012 Olympics, where it is used by local people as an indoor athletics training centre and events space.

Feedback invited on Hendon Hub proposals

Dementia Action Week (17-23 May)

Barnet residents can sign up this month for a week of free online activities, including cookery, painting and singing.  The classes are being offered as part of Dementia Action Week, a national event that aims to improve the lives of people living with dementia. This year, Barnet Council’s Public Health team has joined forces with Age UK Barnet and other partners to focus on reducing risk to dementia.
