The family and friends of Rebecca Kaufman were joined by the Worshipful Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Caroline Stock, for a big party to mark the occasion.

Fariba Khosravikharshad was convicted at Willesden Magistrates’ Court for failing to acquire a licence and manage a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) without reasonable excuse.

The council has been using this funding to support community groups in the borough by offering free equipment to carry out their own litter picking events. In the summer, the council made equipment available. The equipment included litter pickers, gloves and hi vis vests. Some excellent work was carried out over the summer by community groups, scout groups and volunteers. For the autumn, equipment such as brooms, shovels and leaf grabbers will also be available.

The new LED lighting will provide a better and brighter source of white light for pedestrians and motorists. Colours will appear more distinguishable so that objects look sharper and clearer at night, making the night time environment more attractive, and making it easier to drive safely.

The focus of this year’s Libraries Week is a celebration of the role libraries play in the digital world and the ways in which they are helping to engage people through technology, in building digital skills and supporting people’s health wellbeing and education.

Residents can also go directly to the police by phoning 101, or 999 in the case of an emergency.

The successful bid for £318,000 of funding will enable the charity to mentor young people aged 10-14 whose siblings are known to the youth justice system.

The evaluation, which is being carried out by an independent organisation called Activist Group, is intended to assess a number of changes made to Barnet’s library service in 2016, and to recommend any further adaptions and improvements which will help enhance services in the future.

Barnet Council and the Environment Agency have crushed a Ford Transit tipper truck that was used by flytippers to dump huge amounts of rubbish in the otherwise idyllic suburban village of Totteridge. The mountain of trash was discovered on private land. The vehicle used in the flytipping was seized by the Environment Agency on Thursday 8 August after a multi-agency operation that included the Met Police and Barnet Council. The land-owner was left to foot the bill to clear the rubbish that the flytippers had left behind.
